В данной статье из цикла «Подготовка к ОГЭ и ЕГЭ. Словообразование в английском языке» мы рассмотрим основные суффиксы прилагательных в английском языке: -ful, -less, -ous, -al, -y, -ic, -ish, -able, -ive, -ent (10), а также посвятим значительное время отработке этих суффиксов. Суффиксы прилагательных в английском языке

1. Суффиксы прилагательных, образованных от существительных

1. -ful (выражает наличие качества; beautiful, colourful)
2. -less (выражает отсутствие качества: colourless, useless)
3. -ous (слова франц. происхождения, аналог ful: courageous, famous)
4. -al (central, formal)
5. -y (cloudy, dirty)
6. -ic (poetic, domestic)
7. -ish (выражает национальную принадлежность: Scottish, English, а также слабая степень качества: brownish -коричневатый, reddish -красноватый)

1. friendly — дружелюбный
2. lovely — прелестный
3. lively — деятельный, активный

2. Суффиксы прилагательных, образованных от глаголов

1. -able /-ible (выражает возможность подвергнуться действию, указанному глаголом: to change – changeable (менять – изменчивый); to eat – eatable (есть – съедобный)
2. -ive (active, talkative)
3. -ent /-ant (different, important)

Упражнение 1. Translate into Russian.

1. She was very thankful for our help.
2. She likes colourful clothes.
3. She is a very forgetful girl.
4. We are not sure that our team will win, but we are hopeful.
5. They lived a peaceful, happy life.
6. He was always as helpful as possible.

Упражнение 2.1. Translate into Russian.

a moonless night, a cloudless sky, a noiseless machine, numberless heroes, a motherless girl, a heartless woman, a homeless cat, a leafless tree, a nameless author, a sunless room, a endless war, a lifeless body, a colorless liquid, a friendless child, a sleepless night, careless people, a doubtless victory

Упражнение 2.2. Translate into English.

Безоблачное небо, беспомощный ребенок, бесшумная машина, бесчисленные герои, безжизненное тело, беззаботный ребенок, бессердечная женщина, бездомный кот, дерево без листьев, безымянный автор, комната без солнца, бесконечная война, бесцветная жидкость. Была безлунная ночь. Он выглядел усталым после бессонной ночи.

А. Form adjectives from nouns and translate them.

ОБРАЗЕЦ nerve + ous = nervous (нерв – нервный)

В. Use the words in the sentences.

Упражнение 4. The suffix -y.

A. Translate into Russian.

windy day, sunny weather, cloudy sky, sleepy child, dreamy girl, icy wind, healthy food

B. Form adjectives from the nouns and translate them.

ОБРАЗЕЦ swamp — swampy (болото — болотистый)

sand — … , rock — … , juice — … , grass — … , star(r) — … , bone — … , skin(n) — …, water- … , fog (g) — …, swamp — …

C. Put the adjectives from B into this sentences to make them complete.

1. This … land is very good for farming. Cows and sheep can feed here all the year round.

Упражнение 5. Translate into Russian the adjectives, ending with the suffix —ic.

Упражнение 8. The suffix – able.

A. Form the words with the suffix – able.

move — . count — …, eat — …, drink — …, comfort — … , imagine — … , break — … , read — … , respect — …., forget — …, believe — …

B. Use the words in the sentences:

1. Though the cup is made of thin glass it is not ……….(break).
2. She thought of all names ………to guess the name of their new classmate. (imagine).
3. Everybody respects him. He is very …….. (respect).
4. I can’t read the book. It is not ……(read).
5. The nouns are divided into …………. and un…………… (count).

Упражнение 10. Read the adjectives and spell the suffixes used in forming them.

ОБРАЗЕЦ changeable — The adjective changeable is formed with the help of the suffix -able.

successful, cloudless, collective, central, comic, satirical, dangerous, faultless, misty, courageous, aggressive, national, breakable

Упражнение 11. Translate these combinations; say what words the adjectives are formed from.

a washable shirt, a skilful worker, democratic forces, the postal service, groundless suspicions, a humorous story, a gloomy scene, salty ham, professional interest, peaceful labour, a noiseless machine, a courageous soldier, a lucky ticket, a continental climate, a dusty road.

Упражнение 12. Copy and translate all these adjectives. Learn them by heart

B. Listen to the adjectives and translate them by ear.

Урок 4. Суффиксы прилагательных

Введение словообразовательных суффиксов прилагательных и их первичное закрепление в речи.

Тренировка лексических навыков.

Активизация навыков монологической речи.

Оборудование: наборное полотно, карточки со словами по теме «Участие в конкурсе»; таблица по теме «Словообразование: суффиксы прилагательных».

Good morning, boys and girls! (Good morning!)

Nice to see you again. (Nice to see you too.)

How are you? (We are fine, thanks. And how are you?)

Who is on duty today? (I am on duty today.)

Who is absent? (Nobody is absent.)

We will have a talk about word building in the English language.

But at first let’s practise the English sounds. I shall show you the symbols of the English sounds and the task for you is to pronounce this sound and name three words with it on the topic «Welcome to the Teenagers’ Competition». Remember the English words and get ready to start.

[t] — take, participant, competition;

[m] — miss, competition, advertisement;

[1] — lose, luck, successful;

[f] — friendly, hardworking, adults;

[d] — different, kind, rude;

[s] — waste, test, sociable;

[n] — win, chance, find. Etc.

Учитель предлагает ученикам назвать слова с определенными звуками по теме «Участие в конкурсе». Заранее на наборное полотно выставляются карточки со словами по данной теме, которые ученики читают хором и по одному.

Let’s play the game. We shall ask the questions about television and people’s likes and dislikes.

Учитель организует игру «Карусель». Для игры нужны кубик и два картонных круга, скрепленных булавкой посередине. Круги разделены на 12 секторов со словосочетаниями или картинками по теме «Участие в конкурсе». Верхний круг должен свободно вращаться, у него вырезан один сектор.

Примерные словосочетания : to try one’s chance, to improve your English, to win a prize, to be in luck, to take part, to be successful, many participants, to find new friends, to respect adults, to be independent, to be out of luck, to lose a competition.

Ход игры: ученик кидает кубик и поворачивает верхний круг на столько делений, сколько выпало очков на кубике. В соответствии со словом, которое видно через вырезанный сектор, он задает вопрос другому ученику, на который тот должен дать ответ. Учитель побуждает учащихся использовать различные типы вопросов: How can you improve your English ? Do you want to find new friends? You don’t respect adults, do you? Why is it important to be successful? Who is always in luck in your family? How many participants are there in the Teenagers ‘ Competition? Etc. Затем ход переходит к другому ученику .

Ознакомление со словообразовательными суффиксами прилагательных

It’s time to open your textbooks, page 8, exercise 6. We shall learn the suffixes of the adjectives in the English language. Who can read and translate the words from this exercise?

Учитель привлекает внимание учащихся к таблице по теме «Словообразование: суффиксы прилагательных», которая вывешивается на доске. Ученики зачитывают и переводят слова из упр. 6, стр. 8. Учитель обращает внимание учащихся на наиболее распространенные способы словообразования и поясняет примеры из упражнения.

Первичное закрепление введенного материала

Let’s read the task of exercise 7, page 8. You will have two minutes to read the words and find the adjectives. Will you make up the adjectives using the words from exercise 8, page 8?

Учитель организует выполнение упр. 7, стр. 8 следующим образом: сначала ученики читают слова из данного упражнения про себя и подчеркивают прилагательные, а затем проводится взаимопроверка задания в парах. Выполняя упр. 8, стр. 8, учащиеся работают по цепочке: дети по очереди зачитывают по одному слову и образуют из него прилагательное с помощью суффикса.

Физкультминутка проводится дежурным учеником.

Активизация навыков монологической речи

I want you to complete some sentences from exercise 9, page 8. Who will read the example? How can you describe a person who produces new and original ideas? Will you read the next sentence and complete it, please?

Учащиеся выполняют упр. 9, стр. 8 из учебника устно по цепочке. После этого учитель предлагает выполнить упр. 10 (а), стр. 9 в группах по 3 человека: сначала ученики составляют предложения и заслушивают каждого ученика в группе, а затем 3-5 учащихся заслушиваются всем классом.

Закрепление введенного материала в письменной речи

We have learnt different adjectives today. Now we know how to make up the adjectives from the nouns and verbs. The last task for you is to complete the story in your Workbooks. It’s exercise 4, page 7. Don’t forget to entitle the story. Have you got any questions? Start then.

Учитель организует письменное выполнение упр. 4, стр. 7 из рабочей тетради. В конце урока ученики сдают тетради учителю на проверку.
