У вас есть несколько неточностей. Для определения залога нужно найти в предложении подлежащее и понять, как оно соотносится с действием: само его производит (активный залог) или же действие на него направлено (пассивный залог). И не всегда залог в английском предложении будет соответствовать залогу в русском.
Кроме того, залог всегда отображается в форме глагола — для этого нужно вспомнить, как формируется пассив: ‘be’ в соответствующем времени + смысловой глагол с -ed (либо его третья форма, если глагол неправильный).
1. Дома были построены — действие было направлено на дома (подлежащее).
2. Various types of reactors are employed — глагол ‘be’ в настоящем времени + V с -ed. Что же это за форма глагола? По сути, типы реакторов задействованы в работе атомных станций, так ведь?
Если не трудно, есть еще несколько предложений по данной теме (залог и временная форма). Перечитываю и перепроверяю, но хотелось бы быть уверенной в правильности)

Да, причем практика может быть самой разной. Работа с грамматическими упражнениями с ключами, и работа не механическая, а вдумчивая, прослушивание песен, перевод их текстов, чтение книг (смотрите по уровню, что вам подходит), просмотр кино (с субтитрами и без) — это то, что вы можете делать сами, и это будет полезная работа.
