Особенно пригодится в общеобразовательных средних школах, где у учителя всего 3 урока в неделю и нет времени долго задерживаться на этом материала. Легко повторить материал. to hand down a tradition from generation to generation —

передавать какую-л. традицию из поколения в поколение

• To hand in – сдать (работу, документ для чтения или проверки), подавать, вручать
• To hand out – раздавать
• To hand over — передавать

to hand over (power) to one’s successor — передать (власть) своему преемнику to hand over a criminal to the police — сдать преступника в полицию.

• To break away – а) убежать, освободиться ,

to break away from — вырваться из рук кого-л.

to break away from a federation — отделяться от федерации

to break away from the classical tradition — порывать с классической

• To break down — а) ломать (ся), рушить(ся)

to break down a door —выламывать дверь,

the car broke down — машина сломалась

b) потерять контроль над собой, раскиснуть

she broke down and wept — она не выдержала и разрыдалась

the negotiations broke down — переговоры сорвались

• To break into – а) врываться, вламываться

to break into a house — влезть в дом (о ворах)

b) неожиданно начинать делать что-то

she broke into tears/laughter —

• To break out – разразиться, вспыхивать , подниматься, разгораться

• To come down with – подхватить болезнь, заболевать, слечь

• To come round – заглянуть ненадолго

• To drop in(on sb/at some place) заглядывать, заходить ,

to drop in on — заходить к кому-л.

to drop in to see — зайти навестить кого-л.

• To drop off – а) выходить, высаживать (из машины)

b) оставить, «забросить» вещи куда-то

• To drop on sb а) набрасываться, нападать на кого-либо

b) наткнуться, натолкнуться на кого-либо, случайно встретить

• To drop out – выбывать, выходить из чего-то, бросать (школу)

to drop out of a game — выбывать из игры

to drop out of a college — бросить колледж

• to hold ( oneself) in – сдерживать(ся)
• to hold off – а) оставаться, находиться на расстоянии

b) придерживать, задерживать, сдерживать

с) держаться, продолжать делать что-то (часто несмотря на сложности)

d) ждать (особенно при разговоре по телефону)

• to hold out – а) протягивать, выставить

to hold out one’s hand — протягивать руку

my old car is still holding out — моя старая машина ещё держится
