100 дней с английским — Урок 56 — Исчисляемые и неисчисляемые существительные
Как мы с вами выяснили в предыдущем уроке , в английском языке существуют разные способы определить существительное: показать его количество, принадлежность и т.д.
Одним из самых важных (однако, непонятных) определителей существительного в английском языке являются артикли.
По значению артикля в английском ДВА:
- неопределенный — когда мы говорим о чем-то В ОБЩЕМ
- определенный — когда мы говорим о чем-то КОНКРЕТНОМ
I like milk . (молоко — В ПРИНЦИПЕ, как тип напитка)
The milk has gone off.
Предметы, объекты, которые имеют видимую форму и считаются: человек (a person — people), диван (a sofa — sofas), облако (a cloud — clouds), стакан (a glass — glasses), телевизор (a TV set — TV sets), картина (a picture — pictures).
Исчисляемые понятия: язык (a language — languages), страна (a country — countries), слово (a word — words) .
Исчисляемые существителыные в бытовом языке часто считаются определенными единицами измерения (в грамматике они называются «контейнерами»): пачка риса ( a bag of rice — two bags of rice), бутылка или бокал вина ( a bottle or a glass of wine), баррель нефти ( a barrel of oil), тюбик зубной пасты ( a tube of toothpaste) и т.д.
Мы выучим все самые важные «контейнеры» в следующем уроке.
Разница исчисляемых и неисчисляемых в русском и английском
Понятие исчисляемых / неисчисляемых существительных нам знакомо, и мы их нечасто путаем. Однако, есть ряд слов, которые разнятся своим классов в русском и английском языках.
Обратите внимание на эти слова:
ADVICE — совет (в русском — исчисляемое, в английском — неисчисляемое)
Неправильно: AN ADVICE / ONE ADVICE / ADVICES
Я знаю, что в разговорном языке (и в так называемом международном стандарте EFL ) форма AN ADVICE появляется все чаще и чаще, однако, правилами это до сих пор не разрешено ни в британском, ни в американском английском.
Правильно: SOME ADVICE, A PIECE OF ADVICE (один совет)
- Let me give yousome advice. — Позволь мне дать тебе (один) совет.
KNOWLEDGE (в русском используется во множественном числе, в английском — неисчисляемое)
Так как мы часто говорим ЗНАНИЯ по-русски, мы также пытаемся это слово употребить в английском. Однако, как неисчисляемое существительное, в английском оно может использоваться только в единственном числе.
Неправильно: A KNOWLEDGE, KNOWLEDGES
Правильно: (SOME) KNOWLEDGE, KNOWLEDGE IS
- Моих знаний грамматики недостаточно для понимания носителей. —My knowledgeof grammar is not good enough to understand native speakers.
MONEY (в русском используется во множественном числе, в английском — неисчисляемое)
Ситуация с money подобна ситуации с knowledge: мы воспринимаем ДЕНЬГИ как «они», а в английском они — «оно» (it).
Неправильно: A MONEY, MONEY IS, MONEYS
Правильно: (SOME) MONEY, MONEY IS
- У тебя есть деньги? — Have you got(any) money?
- Можешь одолжить мне немного денег? — Can you land mesome money?
- Деньги перечисляются мгновенно. —Your moneyIS transferred instantly.
Такое же различие существует для НАЛИЧНЫЕ — cash (неисчисляемое в английском).
- У меня есть наличные. — I have(some) cash.
- У меня нет наличных. — I have no cash.
- Где я могу снять наличные? — Where can I get some cash?
a people / another people — ЛЮДИ множественного числа, перед ним стоит нулевой артикль или другой определитель (some, many etc.)
a work — РАБОТА (в значении — тип или объем работы) неисчисляемая, перед ней нужен нулевой артикль. Либо мы конкретизируем: a task — задача.
- I havesome workto do. — Мне нужно сделать кое-какую работу. — I have three tasks to do today. — У меня на сегодня три задачи.
- I am going to work. — Я еду на работу.
a data — ДАННЫЕ тоже множественного числа. Ставим либо нулевой артиль, либо другой определитель (some, much etc.)
- I needmore datato make a decision. — Мне нужно больше данных, чтобы принять решение.
a baggage / a luggage — БАГАЖ неисчисляемый в английском, но вы можете посчитать bags (сумки), suitcases (чемоданы), pieces / items (места багажа).
- I have a lot of luggage. — У меня много багажа.
- Do you have (any) hand luggage? — У вас есть с собой ручной багаж?
- How many items of baggage can I check in?
A / AN — перед единственным числом исчисляемых существительных;

He gave me two adviceS. Неверно.
He gave me two pieces of advice. Правильный вариант.
I bought two milkS and three riceS. Неверно.
I bought two bottles of milk and two boxes of rice. Правильный вариант.
3. Если вы не уверены, какой артикль ставить перед существительным и не знаете: исчисляемое существительное перед вами или неисчисляемое, используйте следующие универсальные слова, которые используются с обоим типом существительных. Это поможет сделать ваше предложение грамматически правильным.
